I checked the Newseum to see how papers decided to play the news of President Obama vocally supporting same-sex marriage.
Lots of papers didn’t mention outside of skyboxes and refers, perhaps thinking they didn’t have enough of a local angle to play it big.
Some papers though blew it out huge and dedicated lots of space to it. Here are a few that I really liked.

Tabs like Metro, Red Eye and Express all did some cool stuff. But then again, they’re tabs - that’s practically a requirement. Note, Red Eye and Express actually used the same photo.

I’m not a huge fan of the AJC, I think their furniture and templates are just wonky. But that’s a nice centerpiece package, I have to admit. Atlanta is perhaps the San Francisco of the south so I’m not surprised they had not only a wire story to run, but a great local reaction piece on the bottom as well.

My favorite page comes from the Omaha World-Herald. They always make great use of white space in the Herald, and here they put it again to great use. The simple graphic, big number breakouts and quotes all help to break up the story and give readers lots of digestible bits of information.
